Heather

I  began my artistic career in the field of decorative arts. After much persuasion from a friend I showed her, on our lounge room table, how  to paint. Soon I had a few  friends painting and eventually this led to a home studio and two classes per week. Ten years later and that friend is still coming each week to create  art and have fun.

When I draw or paint for others I am reminded each time of the joy that an artwork can bring.

I have been drawing ever since I was a kid and could pick up a pencil. My favorite medium is graphite and I really enjoy doing portraits, mostly people and animals. Last year my  portrait ‘”Shannen Tayla and I” won first prize in the Casey Creations Visual Arts Year 10-12 section. A photograph of my best friend won first prize at the Hampton Park Community House Art and Photography show. This year I have been studying at Tafe, doing the Diploma of Illustration. The course is great, especially as I have had the chance to try many new styles and mediums. I love life drawing as it helps me to learn more about the human figure. As I was growing up, my mum taught me painting with acrylics, and I still enjoy doing painting to this day. I believe I work best with graphite. Hope you enjoy browsing through my artworks.
